TRANSITIONAL TRENDS – DRESSING FOR THE CHANGE OF SEASON
Posted on September 01 2020
Most people love the start of spring – it spells the beginning of new life, fresh flowers and warmer weather.
But while we’re usually excited about throwing on our strappy sandals and sleeveless dresses, in reality the mornings and evenings can still be a little chilly and there’s a lingering feel of the 'winter that was' in the air.
The good news is, this gives us a chance to prolong our winter wardrobe and transform some of our warmer outfits into something fresh. This is especially great for women in our home town of Mackay in North Queensland as it means we can get some more wear out of our winter clothes that otherwise only get a run a few short months of the year!
Here’s our tips on how to transition into spring and get some extra wear out of your winter wardrobe:
ROLL ‘EM UP
Roll up the cuffs on your pants, jeans, long-sleeved shirts and jumpers to give a three-quarter look that takes off the wintery-edge, leaving you looking casually cool.
BOHO AND BOOTS
A look that has been embraced by stylish celebs, fashionable festival-goers and bohemian beauties, the right boots with a summer dress or floaty skirt can be worn year-round (with the addition or subtraction of jackets and scarves, depending on the season). And with all our boots now on sale, it's the perfect time to embrace this look!
BOOTS TO BROGUES
Once your ankle boots start feeling too heavy with your rolled-up jeans, swap them out for a pair of loafers, brogues or sneakers. This will look particularly great paired with a simple tee or a button-up shirt. Tie a little colourful scarf around your neck to bring in some spring tones!
WHEEL OUT THE WEDGES
While we’re talking rolled jeans don’t forget how great they look with a bit of height under your feet. Wedges, particularly espadrilles, are a great way to put a spring in your step. Rope and canvas bring memories of the Mediterranean and when worn with rolled jeans and linen tops they give that air of having “just stepped off a yacht”. Now wouldn’t that be lovely!
LONG LIVE LACE-UPS
Comfy, trendy and the perfect trans-seasonal shoe, lace-ups can be thrown on with dresses once the weather warms up. Whether they are leather, linen or canvas, these versatile must-haves can warm-up a summer dress; or cool down a winter one.
